Beginning on January 6, 2013, I have vowed to do 3 things every day for 108 days:

  1. Learn Something.
  2. Meditate.
  3. Do a Compassion Action.**

I will document the journey on this blog.

**Here is my definition of what a Compassion Action entails for this project: A sincere, intentional act that is beneficial in some way to the recipient(s) and from which I do not want or expect anything in return. The recipient(s) of the Compassion Action may be someone else, multiple others, an animal, an organization, the community, the environment, etc. The magnitude of the action is irrelevant, I believe; every amount of kindness helps. Also, I will not record actions that I do (and that hopefully everyone does!) regularly anyway, such as holding the door open for people or consoling friends.

Note that I use the term “compassion” lightly on this blog. Really, these are mostly simple acts of kindness or good deeds or helping, whereas compassion is a much deeper concept. Read some more about it here and here and here.
