Today I learned about the Human Brain Project, which is the brain equivalent of the Human Genome Project. See a video description here. (Bonus! On a related note, this article shrewdly cautions that a kind of “folk neuroscience” is emerging due to the popularity of brain research in the media.)
Today I meditated for 15 minutes. In lieu of a description, check out this article, which presents one of countless current studies being conducted to evaluate the effects of secular meditation. (Here’s the abstract for the actual scientific publication. I attended a talk by the researchers at a conference last year—very cool people!)
Today I acted kindly by contacting the girls’ school from Day 46 to again try to set up being a pen-pal with or long-distance mentor for one of the students. I’ll keep trying and hoping!
